I can’t believe I’m on the tail end of the second trimester. Woohoo!!! I can’t wait until I reach the third!
Okay all, this is my 25 week picture. Again, Travis and I attempted to take this after I got home from work last night, around 10pm, so this is in no way a great picture. I’m sure you all get the gist though.
I still feel like my bump hasn’t really filled out. It’s on the lumpy side. My mother informed me today that our side of the family has always gained the weight all over and we just don’t do the “basketball baby bump.” Her exact words.
This week my little man is doing the following: (click here for the site)
Your baby’s the size of an cauliflower!
During month six, the average fetus measures about 13.6 inches to 14.8 inches and weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds.
- He’s enjoying his new sense of equilibrium — he now knows which way is up and which is down.
- He’s growing more fat and more hair too!
This is what’s going on with me:
You’re 25 weeks pregnant and it’s probably dawned on you that soon you’ll actually have to deliver this baby. (A little scary, but exciting!) What’s cool is that most hospitals will let you preregister, which means you can put in your paperwork early, so the day you go into labor, you don’t have to stand around filling out a bunch of forms before you get admitted. Maybe you’re getting nervous about delivery, or maybe it’s your haywire hormones, but you might start to have trouble sleeping around week 25. This is a common complaint of many moms-to-be. Some people will tell you that’s just your body’s way of prepping you for sleepless nights with baby, but those comments won’t help you get the rest you need! Experiment with different strategies for getting some sleep. One idea is to drink extra water early in the day, so you can start tapering off your intake as you get closer to bedtime. That way, you might need less bathroom breaks during the night and can keep sleeping. After all, now that baby’s crowding your bladder, you’ve got to pee. A lot.
Weight gained: I really don’t want to say. I will eventually clue you all in, but right now I’m happier with all of you having to guess.
Workouts: None last week. Lots of moving things around the house, getting everything ready to work on the nursery. This does mean lots of trips up and down the stairs, which sadly, leaves me winded now. Oh how the times have changed.
Symptoms: Not that many thank goodness! I have this one spot on my back where my muscles are super tight. It doesn’t matter if I sit, stand, have Travis massage it, nothing. It’s just always there. Super annoying. I may have to visit the chiropractor and see if he can do anything about it.
I have also been sleeping through the night lately. Amazing! When I do get up in the morning though, watch out, I am running to the bathroom with a very full bladder!
Movement: Um, when is he not moving? This boy is constantly going! I lay awake in bed in the mornings and watch my belly as it pops up and down as he twists and turns in there. It’s still fascinating to me.
Food Aversions: I am not really digging meat. It’s okay sometimes, but for the most part I really try to avoid it. Nasty.
Food Cravings: Lots of veggies. Subway has this chopped salad that I am currently in love with. I get it without meat or cheese, but with every veggie they have. Usually for dressing I ask for the sweet onion sauce. OMG my life is always a little brighter after I eat that.
Sleep: I had a couple nights last week that it took a while to fall asleep. If any of my body parts are touching; legs, arms, anything, I get sweaty and uncomfortable. This body pillow all the Prego’s are talking about is sounding super appealing. I might have to go investigate them soon.
Stretch marks? None! Yet. . . .
Miss Anything? Beer!!!!! I want beer. Now that it’s nice out people are lighting up the grills and getting into the summer mood. That always includes drinking beer. Every time I see someone sip one, they look so happy. Their glasses are full of frothy yumminess, and I want one, it a bad way. Just a few more months . . . .
Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: Tomorrow Travis and I have the day off, and we are getting started on the nursery! We have been saving up to just go out and get everything at once, and tomorrow is the day! I have a eye appointment at the crack of dawn, but that will get us up and going. After that we are heading to Home Depot to get paint, sheetrock, wood for building the closet, moldings, stain, and a ceiling fan. After that we are heading to a carpet warehouse that sells leftover remnants for great prices. We only need a 11x14ft section plus the pad. We are going to try to get as much ready and pre-done as possible so when Travis’s super amazing dad comes over to help us throw it all together we can finish fast! I want it all done before my first baby shower next month! We did already place an order for a new window, and that should come within a few weeks.
Belly Button in or out? In. My sister and mom never had their belly buttons pop out, so I’m not too worried about it.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Oh I have my share of both. My weight continues to be an issue for me and I struggle with how I look on a daily basis. I try to remember it’s all for the best cause imaginable, but it’s still a work in progress. Other than that though things are great. I feel like we are finally accomplishing much needed baby stuff and that puts me in a good mood.
New Baby Items: We got a crib!
We really liked the dark wood crib at Costco, but my dad’s work friend had a free crib she was going to give to the Goodwill. She is a grandma and bought the crib a few years back for when her grandbabies came over. It’s a lighter wood color and hardly used at all. We couldn’t pass that up. She also gave us a lightly used bedding set. We feel so blessed to have this brand new crib for nothing! More of our money that can be spent on other important baby items!
Looking Forward To: Getting the nursery done. I can’t wait until it’s all decorated and ready for our baby boy! So exciting!
Expecting moms out there, do you do the constant bump comparing? I really need to stop. It’s just fascinating how everyone’s is so different!
