27 Weeks Today!

Sorry, another bad pix. I really need to get better at this!

This week my little man is doing the following:

Your baby’s the size of a rutabaga!

Your baby is now 13.6 to 14.8 inches long and 1.5 to 2.5 pounds! And he’s not just getting larger, he’s becoming a complex little human being. This is the earliest he could survive outside of Mommy if delivered prematurely.
His brainstem, which controls most of his vital functions (such as heart rate, breathing and blood pressure) is nearly fully developed by this point, and his cerebral cortex (which forms consciousness and allows us to think, feel and perform voluntary actions) is growing more and more, maturing and becoming more complex during the last trimester. So don’t be surprised by baby’s karate kicks in your belly. He can stretch and make grasping motions now too!

This is what’s going on with me:

I have 91 days to go! It was so exciting to get down past the 100 day mark. I had my 27 week appointment yesterday and from now on I’m going in for bi-weekly checkups. While I was at my appointment my doctor went to grab the measuring tape to measure my belly and asked me to lay back and hike my pants down a bit and my shirt up a tad to reach the belly. When he looked at me he shook his head and said, “Where is your belly? You have such a long torso you could hide a huge baby in there and not even know it! You have a gravity defying belly!” Well gee, thanks!

Weight gained: Too much! But seriously, I had a feeling all along that my weight gain was going to be on the high side, it’s in the family history. My sister and mom both gained on the high side, but always lost it all, and that’s what’s important. My doctor said to just eat healthy and that every body is different, and to just go with it. Thanks doctor for not making me feel like I am unhealthy or bring me down. He totally understood, which was great! As of right now, I am up 30 pounds, but am coming to except it, and just go with the flow. Only 13 more weeks to go! Really, 10 more weeks to have a full term birth, but 13 to make it to 40 week mark.

Workouts: It’s starting to get really nice over here! The weather has been amazing. Ah spring, how I love you! I went for a few walks this week and enjoyed every bit of them. I really want to try a prenatal yoga DVD soon, I hear that it feels amazing to stretch out all those hurting muscles.

Symptoms: Lower back pain, but that’s about it. If I sit to long its also uncomfortable, so laying down is my favorite option. I don’t hang with Travis on the couch as much anymore, I’m usually beat by the time TV watching starts in the evening, so I kiss him goodnight and go lay in bed and read a book or play on the kindle.

Movement: Again, this little guy is always busy! The nurse yesterday said that was great and that I am now suppose to keep myself aware of his movements, and if I’m not feeling him when I normally would, to grab eat something with sugar and see if I can get him to play, and if not to call them and come in. So far that has not been an issue.

Food Aversions: Still not in love with meat, but otherwise I’m good with most anything.

Food Cravings: I have had a bit of a sweet tooth lately that I really have to keep in check! I wake up wanting Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! Bad!

Sleep: With the warmer weather I’m a little more uncomfortable, but once I pass out, I’m out!

Stretch marks? Sob and gasp, my boob! Just my right one too, on the underside. I was in shock when I was lotioning up the other day and noticed them. I had a freak out moment, but if that’s the worst of it, I wont be able to complain. No one will ever see them there. I just hope that’s the only place I get them. Wishful thinking you say? Hump!

Miss Anything?  Still gonna have to go with Beer. I want some bad. Also I miss my teeth whitener! I cant use it until after I finish breastfeeding. That seems so far away. . .

Belly Button in or out? In. Still. Don’t think its going anywhere.

Wedding rings on or off? Yesterday was the first day that I had to take my ring off halfway through the day because it was so tight. I felt really swollen yesterday, so I’m gonna give it another try and see if it was just a fluke.

Happy or moody most of the time: Again, a little of both. No sobbing episodes this week though, just a little moody.

New Baby Items: We are going to a huge neighborhood garage sale tomorrow so I am super excited to try and find some amazing deals to help decorate the nursery! I have been looking forward to this sale for months!!!!

Have a good Friday all!
