Weekend Recap 4/7/14

Well hello all! Long time no see right? Last week we had so much more going on than just Travis’s vacation. Let’s fill you all in with a little recap.

highlights

Travis spent the first few days of his vacation at home, but Wednesday morning found us driving him to the airport at the crack of dawn to catch a flight to Seattle. He went to spend some time with his family, and then Friday would drive home with his dad and mom so they could hang out in Spokane for a few days and catch up with us and Tyrion.

Thank goodness my sis Emily was able to come stay while he was gone and help out. I had a cake order due on Friday and it would have been significantly harder to try and make the whole thing solo without anyone to help with Tyrion. Think lots of lost sleep and several pots of coffee. Thankfully Emily came to the rescue and I was able to bake and also keep up my running schedule. Woohoo! And who’s kidding who here, at 16 years old my sister will take any excuse to get out of the house for a few days. So really, I was doing her a favor. Winking smile

The cake turned out great, after a second attempt at laying fondant on the bottom layer. It was fighting me the whole time and I was very close to throwing the stinking cake across the kitchen. Luckily I decided it was too heavy. Well that and also because it had already been paid for. I’m sure my customer wouldn’t appreciate finding it plastered across my kitchen wall. Anywho it all worked out, thankfully.

The bottom layer was read velvet and the top was white cake.

A pretty cake for a girl who is going to be a stunning bride in a matter of weeks.

This little stinker was so good while daddy was gone and Emily was over. He seems to get cuter each time I look at him. And grow! Bigger by the day! Did I mention he is always hungry, cuz he is!

Travis and his parents arrived safely Friday mid-afternoon so we all hung out and enjoyed the evening. The next day flew by as well and before we knew it we were saying goodbye until next time.

Sunday we all slept in a bit. Tyrion cooperated until about 7am. We skipped church since they are working on the video system and it’s down for a couple weeks. We watch from the children room with Tyrion since children aren’t allowed in the main sanctuary. (Unless you have an angelic child who doesn’t utter a peep)

At about 9 am I passed little man to dad and took off on my long run for the week. My first 6 miler. The sun was shining, it was in the mid 40’s, and the run was pretty awesome. It kicked my butt towards the end. But the whole run I kept telling myself to be grateful for the amazing place we live and the cool areas I get to run. It actually made the run go by pretty fast. I was glad to have it over with early as well so I could just relax the rest of the day.

After a shower and some catch up around the house we headed out to lunch at a friends. It was good to catch up. They also have a little boy and Tyrion got to make a new friend. They passed toys back and fourth and played very well together. After lunch we headed home and I  . . . . napped!!!! Heck ya. I don’t get to do it often enough and it was bliss. The rest of Sunday was spent as lazy as possible. And now here we are!

Today is a rest day so no running, which I’m happy about. I have so much that needs to be done now that the weather is so nice. Suppose to be in the 70’s this week. Awesomeness! Gonna sit down and make out a plan on how to get everything accomplished. And with that recap I’m out!

Hope you all had great weekends and your Monday is more like Friday!
